For more than 35 years, Nestor De La Zerda has been a driving force in shaping and elevating the salsa dance community in Vancouver and beyond. As a choreographer, dancer, instructor, and writer, he has dedicated his life to sharing the art of Latin dance and inspiring generations of dancers.
Nestor is widely recognized as one of the original innovators of salsa dancing in Vancouver. His vision and passion led to the creation of the first-ever salsa dance team in Vancouver, setting the stage for a thriving Latin dance culture in the region.
A true trailblazer, Nestor produced Vancouver’s first and second World Salsa Congresses in 1999 and 2000—events that brought world-class performers, instructors, and international attention to the city.
He has also organized numerous local salsa competitions, expanding opportunities for dancers at all levels to grow and showcase their talent.
Nestor’s artistic reach extends far beyond Canada. He has choreographed and instructed for movies and television, and has taught world-renowned champions, including:

Nestor has organized countless dance tours and cruises to destinations such as the Caribbean and Mexico’s Riviera, offering dancers unique cultural and learning experiences.
Locally, his team has performed in every major performance hall and theatre in the Lower Mainland, solidifying his presence as a leader in dance entertainment and education.

He is multilingual, fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, and Greek, allowing him to connect with students and communities from all backgrounds.
